Exciting milestone moment for Clover Lane Publishing and me as an author

Two international awards for my AI books and why it matters

When I opened the email about the awards, I sat for a minute and just breathed. I had to recheck the contents of the emails to ensure I was reading them correctly and that I had, in fact, won awards in an international book competition for my first two books on AI.

These books were written in real-life’s in-between moments—early mornings, lunch breaks, really late nights, and plenty of coffee—because I wanted everyday people to feel at ease with AI. I wanted to make this topic make sense for everyone, because regardless of who you are, what you're studying, what you do for work, or whether you're retired, AI is showing up everywhere, on our phones, TVs, doctors' offices, classrooms, and all places and spaces in between. We need and deserve to know how this technology is influencing and affecting our lives. My goal was to write these books in a way anyone can understand, without watering down the topic, skipping the fundamentals, or glossing over the risks.

Seeing my work recognized on an international platform feels incredibly energizing and humbling. And it's especially significant and meaningful as a new author and publisher.

These books came from a simple belief: learning AI should feel like a conversation with a trusted colleague. I try to celebrate what AI does well, be candid about its limits, and center ethics and real-world usefulness.

About the competition

The Readers’ Favorite International Book Awards is one of the largest and most respected programs of its kind, with thousands of entries from over a dozen countries each year. Titles compete within 140+ genres, so judging stays apples-to-apples. Entrants range from independent authors to major-house writers from Random House, HarperCollins, and Simon & Schuster. Readers’ Favorite is BBB accredited (A+ rating) and recognized by the Association of Independent Authors. In short, it’s serious about quality and fairness, which makes these medals especially meaningful.

A personal thank you

To the early readers who marked up drafts, the educators who test-drove the activities, my favorite group of independent authors and publishers who cheer each other on, and every person who sent an encouraging note or left a positive online review—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your feedback shaped these pages. Your encouragement kept me going (and still does). My family and close friends kept me steady and honest, and I’m profoundly grateful and humbled.

What’s next

I’ve bundled these books into a new value-packed edition: AI for Beginners—Learn, Grow and Excel in the Digital Age, so even more people can go from AI curious to confident with one accessible resource!

Thanks for celebrating this with me. The goal remains the same: keep learning practical skills, keep ethics front and center, and make AI usable for real people doing real work.
